Samenvatting
“Men say they know many things; But lo! they have taken wings, — The arts and sciences, And a thousand appliances; The wind that blows Is all that any body knows” ? Henry David Thoreau, Walden In his introduction to this book Rod McKuen refers to Henry David Thoreau as "the first real drop out." So he was, if dropping out means getting away to take stock of yourself and your surroundings. It is interesting that the words in these pages seem even more pertinent today than when they were first written over a hundred years ago. The remarkable photographs by Helen Miljakovich that illustrate Thoreau word's do much to emphasize just how contemporary this thoughts were.
