Samenvatting
Surveys the history of the Jewish quarter of the Hague from the 18th century to the present. On pp. 44-54 describe the exclusion of Jews from the guilds in the 18th century. Pp. 204-211 deal with the Nazi period, describing the arrival of refugees from Germany and Nazi anti-Jewish measures during the occupation - e. g. expulsion from professions and schools, liquidation of businesses, attacks on the synagogues, and the deportation of 17,000 Jews. Only 2,000 survived. Includes a list of Jews who lived in the Jewish quarter of the Hague in April 1942.
