Beschrijving	Beautiful souvenir album of Switserland, quarto oblong in red imitation morocco binding (30 x 40 cm), made by the Rotterdam firm ‘Drukkerij en Binderij Cornelis Immig & Zoon’. Album with 17 small albumen photographs, 8 large albumen prints and 6 photochrome images (colored lithographed images, derived from photographs), laid-down on cardboards, all produced by the Zurich company Schroeder & Cie. All photographs are in excellent condition with sharp contrast, deep tones, and no foxing or fading. With an inserted folded folio-size paper, with a three page handwritten ‘Souvenir aan Zwitserland’, comprising of a short memoir of the journey to Switserland from June 10th to June 27th, written and signed by H. van Draanen (?). The Rotterdam tourist H. van Draanen (?) visited Zwitserland and bought about 30 photographs from the Zurich photographer and publisher Schroeder & Cie. This company (also known as Editeurs de vues suisses) was a prestigious photographic publishing house based in Zurich. They were prominently active during the ‘Golden Age’ of Alpine tourism, between 1885 and 1910. They specialized in producing high-quality landscape photography for the booming market of European tourism. Their catalog contained thousands of numbered views of glaciers and peaks (such as the Eiger, Jungfrau, and Matterhorn), Infrastructure (the construction of early mountain railways like the Jungfraubahn) and grand hotels.
